The international organization of the Engine Remanufacturer and Rebuilder Association, known as FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DES RECTIFIEURS ET RECONSTRUCTEURS DE MOTEURS, F.I.R.M., was founded in Vienna in 1958.
F.I.R.M. is the professional platform representing the interests and combined skills of almost more than 900 Engine Remanufacturers and Rebuilders, nowadays.
The foundation was based on a clear conformity among its members concerning the need for effective representation and assistance to all international belongings.
The general purposes of F.I.R.M. are to defend the interest and to increase the acceptance of Engine Remanufacturers and Rebuilders within their national associations, in particular:
- Link the national Engine Remanufacturer and Rebuilder Associations and their members
- Preparation of an extensive member database (FMD)
- Continuation of the international engine database (FID-Compact) - at this time approx. 1200 different engine models
- Collection and circulation of useful informations among member association and their members
- Member information about developments and trends, as the public about positions on matters of mutual interest
- Technical harmonization of the free engineremanufacturing
- Support facility during the formation of national associations
